How Lipatazama Works

What is Lipatazama?

Lipatazama is a live streaming platform where you pay only for what you watch. No subscriptions. No ads. Just a ticket to the live events you care about — from concerts and classes to church services and sports.

How to Buy a Ticket
  1. Browse streams on the homepage or use a link shared by an uploader.
  2. Click "Buy Ticket" on the stream you want to watch.
  3. You'll receive an M-Pesa STK Push prompt on your phone — enter your PIN to pay.
  4. Once payment is confirmed, the stream unlocks immediately.
  5. Enjoy the show! The video player appears right on the page.
How to Claim a Promo Code

If an uploader gives you a promo code (or a lipatazama.com/redeem/CODE link):

  1. Click the link or visit lipatazama.com/redeem/CODE.
  2. If you're not logged in, you'll be asked to log in or register (it's free).
  3. The code is automatically claimed — you get instant access to the stream.
  4. No payment needed. The uploader covers the ticket for you.
Watching a Stream

After purchasing a ticket or claiming a promo code, visit the stream detail page. If the stream is live, the video player loads automatically. You can also find all your tickets in My Tickets.

Technology & Performance

Lipatazama uses professional-grade streaming infrastructure to deliver smooth, low-latency video to every viewer. Here's how it works behind the scenes.

How is video delivered to me?

HLS (HTTP Live Streaming) — video is broken into 2-6 second chunks and delivered via standard HTTPS. This is the same technology used by YouTube, Twitch, and Netflix. Your player downloads one chunk at a time, so you never download the entire video at once.

LL-HLS (Low Latency HLS) — for streams using SRT ingest, chunk delivery is optimised for 2-6 second latency. Close to real-time, perfect for interactive events.

Adaptive Bitrate — if your connection dips, the player automatically steps down to a lower quality so the stream never buffers. It steps back up when your connection improves.

What video quality can I expect?

Uploaders can stream from 480p to 1080p. The actual quality you see depends on the uploader's setup and your internet speed. Typical streams run at 3 Mbps, which works well on 4G and good 3G connections. Uploaders using OBS with SRT can deliver up to 1080p at 5 Mbps with H.264 or H.265 encoding.

How do uploaders stream?

Uploaders have three options depending on their equipment:

Browser (WebRTC)Just a camera and browser. No app needed.
OBS / Larix (SRT)Professional software. Best quality + reliability.
Camera app (RTMP)For DJI, GoPro, and hardware encoders.
How do you prevent piracy?

Every stream is protected by token authentication and anti-sharing measures. This means a ticket you buy works for you only — sharing the link won't give others access. Your viewing experience is secure and exclusive to you.

What about scalability?

Lipatazama's infrastructure handles from small private events to large public broadcasts. For larger audiences, Lipatazama scales automatically thanks to CDN — every viewer gets a smooth, reliable experience — whether you're the only person watching or one of thousands.

Frequently Asked Questions

What if the stream ends early?

Contact the uploader directly. The platform facilitates payments but stream content is the uploader's responsibility.

Can I share my ticket?

No — your ticket is locked to your account and IP address. Sharing a link won't work for others.

My video won't load or keeps buffering?

Try refreshing the page, checking your internet connection, or using a different browser. If the issue persists, the stream may have ended.
